Socio-cultural Evolution of Opinion Dynamics in Networked Societies

چکیده
This paper introduces a modeling paradigm based on a language theoretic framework for stochastic simulation of decision-making in a social setting, where choices and decisions by individuals are increasingly being influenced by a person’s online social interactions. In this paper, the dynamics of opinion formation in a networked society have been studied with a joint model that bridges micro-level decisions based on reward maximization and the corresponding social influences which alter the estimate of these reward values. The effect of long term government policies on the stability and dynamics of the population opinion and the effect of including an influencing agent group has been studied. Simulated results on a sample society demonstrate the major impact of a relatively small but sharply opinionated influencing group toward pushing the society toward a desired outcome.

Culture Outsmarts Nature in the Evolution of Cooperation
A one dimensional cellular automata model, describing the evolutionary dynamics of cooperation when grouping by cooperators provides protection against predation, is used to compare the dynamics of evolution of cooperation in three settings: in G only vertical transmission of information is allowed, as an analogy of genetic evolution with heredity; in H only horizontal information transfer is s...
متن کاملThe Probability of the Improbable: Societynature Coevolution
This article aims to show how evolutionary theory, social-metabolism and sociological systems theory can be utilized to develop a concept of society–nature coevolution. The article begins with a conception of industrialization as a sociometabolic transition, that is, a major transformation in the energetic and consequently material basis of society. This transition to industrial metabolism was ...

In the era of information and communication the concept of identity is more fluid during the development of media and communications. Although this process in developing societies in slow compared with developed societies, but the point is that the mentioned process is an ongoing and structural patterns that lost their power for identification. متن کاملExtending the Hegselmann-Krause Model I
Hegselmann and Krause have developed a simple yet powerful computational model for studying the opinion dynamics in societies of epistemically interacting truth-seeking agents. We present various extensions of this model and show their relevance to the investigation of socio-epistemic questions, with an emphasis on normative questions. Agent-based computer simulations have been successfully emp...
متن کاملA MODEL FOR EVOLUTIONARY DYNAMICS OF WORDS IN A LANGUAGE
Human language, over its evolutionary history, has emerged as one of the fundamental defining characteristic of the modern man. However, this milestone evolutionary process through natural selection has not left any ’linguistic fossils’ that may enable us to trace back the actual course of development of language and its establishment in human societies. Lacking analytical tools to fathom the cr...
